Matra/Matar/Dry Peas/Hara Vatana Chat

It started snowing here, the first snow of the season and you can imagine the temperature here. It is going down day by day, making us difficult to move out of the house. It is fun to watch snowing outside and enjoy something hot, spicy and tangy that tickle our tastebuds. Today evening it was a Healthy Chat that we enjoyed with a cup of tea spiced with ginger and cardamom.
Wondering what that healthy chat is? It was Matra/Matar Chat, made out of cooked dry peas/vatana.Yes, it is indeed healthy with no oil used except for the thin nylon sev that is sprinkled on top, which could be rather skipped if not desired.
Simple recipe to be followed is as here.

Ingredients:
Soaked dry peas(soaked overnight or minimum 10 hours)- 2 cups
Onions-2 finely chopped
Green chillies-2-3 finely chopped
Ginger-1/2 tsp minced
Chat Masala-1 tsp.
Dates and Tamarind chutney-  1/2 cup or as required (Dates and Tamarind Chutney Recipe)
Nylon Sev- as required to garnish
Water-1 1/2 cups
Salt to taste

Recipe:
  1. Pressure cook the soaked dry peas with water and salt for 3-4 whistles.
  2. Transfer the cooked peas to a big mixing bowl.
  3. Add onions, minced ginger and green chillies
  4. Mix well, add dates and tamarind chutney.
  5. Then add chat masala. Check for salt.
  6. Transfer it to serving bowl and top it with nylon sev and chutney if desired again.
