An authentic yet another south Indian dish is Rava Idlis. I was used to MTR Rava Idli mix in the beginning when we landed here in Germany. But soon the mixes which I got was over and we started developing crave for rava idlis.
I thus started checking in interner for the recipe of rava idlis. And I got the basic recipe for rava idlis. Then I twisted and tweaked accordingly to get good rava idlis.

Here I share with you all Rava Idli recipe.
Ingredients:
Rava-2 cups
Green chillies-4-5-finely chopped
Curry Leaves-handful finely chopped
Chana dal/Bengal gram-2 tsp
Broken cashews-3-4 tsp
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Urad dal/Skinned split black gram-2 tsp
Grated ginger-1tsp
Oil-2tsp
Curd-1 cup
Baking soda-generous pinch
Salt to taste
Water -enough to get idli batter consistency
Procedure:
- Add oil to a nonstick pan and once the oil is hot add mustard, urad dal, chana dal, broken cashews.
- Then add green chillies grated ginger and curry leaves to it and fry.
- Now add rava and roast till nice aroma comes and once done allow it to cool off by removing it from pan into a vessal in which you are going to prepare rava idli batter.
- Now add curd ,baking soda and mix well.
- After 2-3 mins again add water and prepare idli batter.
- Add salt to taste.
- Steam the batter in the idli moulds for 8-10 mins and serve hot with any coconut chutney or with mixed vegetable sambhar
