Semiya Sheera / Vermicelli Sheera/Halwa

Vermicelli sheera/halwa is an authentic Indian easy to make dessert. There are countless classic Indian desserts. Yesterday tried my hands on this yummy flavourful vermicelli sheera. Thought to share this classy recipe with you all.

Ingredients:
Vermicelli/Semiya-1 cup
Sugar-1 1/2 cup
Milk-1/2 cup
Water-1 1/2 cup
Cardamom-1 pod crushed
Ghee-7-8 tsp
Broken Cashews-25-30
Raisins-30-35

Recipe:
  1. In a deep bottom pan add 2 tsp ghee.
  2. When hot add broken cashews and sauté till golden.
  3. Once done remove them off and to same hot ghee add raisins
  4. Sauté till they turn round and plump.
  5. Remove them too off to a bowl and let them cool.
  6. To the same pan add 1 tsp more of ghee and add vermicelli to it.
  7. Roast till they turn to light golden pink in colour.
  8. Then pour water and mix well.
  9. Now add milk and let it cook with occasional stirring.
  10. Once it is cooked fully and also if the  liquid content almost evaporated add sugar and mix well.
  11. Sugar melts instantly and cook further with occasional stirring.
  12. Once again as the liquid content tends to evaporate start adding remaining ghee teaspoon by teaspoon in a gap of 2-3 minutes and keep mixing. Do not mix vigourously as semiya will tend to break away.Add crushed cardamom too.
  13. Now when almost the mixture tends to leave the pan add the golden fried dry fruits like cashews and raisins.
  14. Mix well and let it cook another 1-2 mins on low.
  15. Let the flavours be absorbed in the semiya.
  16. And, your semiya sheera is ready to go.

Enjoy the dish! n don't forget Eat and Eat little MORE.. :)
